A young girl was seriously injured after being hit by a car while crossing upper State Street on Sunday morning, authorities said. The crash occurred eastbound along the 3000 block of State Street at a crosswalk in front of MacKenzie Park, according to police Lt. Ryan DeJohn. First responders gave the child emergency medical treatment on the scene before transporting her to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. No current updates were available on the condition of the child, DeJohn said. Two people were in the car that hit the child, and neither passenger was injured.
